Part P
Part P is a building regulations document that applies to electrical work in domestic premises and associated buildings. Since its introduction on the 1st of January 2005 it is now a legal requirement that any electrical work undertaken complies with the relevant standard, namely BS 7671: 2008, 'Requirements for electrical installations' (The IEE Wiring Regulations 17th Edition).
Only minor work can now be completed by the householder, eg replacing a switch or a light fitting on a like for like basis. For most work undertaken it is a requirement that local authority building control is notified of the work, and that it is installed and certified by a competent person.
We are assessed annually by Elecsa and have demonstrated that our work meets the requirements of Part P. This means that we are authorised to self-certify any work we undertake, and notify the work to buildings control through Elecsa. Depending on the work we carry out you will receive an installation certificate from us, and a buildings control notification.
