Inspection & Testing
Inspection and Testing is the process where we check an installation both for electrical and physical problems. Depending on the work we carry out at a property we may perform all or a selection of tests to make sure either what we have fitted is safe, or that the existing installation is safe.

Full Inspection

We will carry out a full inspection for new installations, consumer unit changes, or if requested to do so. In the case of an existing installation we will check as much as we can get access to.

Periodic Inspection

A periodic inspection is used either as a pre test before carrying out major work (to identify circuits etc), for letting purposes, or as recommended check for domestic properties usually every 10 years, or sooner for commercial premises.

Landlords Safety Certificate

There is no "safety certificate" for electric installations like there are with gas installations. Instead we carry out the periodic inspection, and give you the Periodic Inspection Report which will tell you of its condition, and if anything needs improving, or is dangerous. We check all properties compared to todays regulations (BS7671:2008), but this does not mean we will fail older installations. As long as your property meets the standard of the period in which it was designed, and has no dangerous parts, eg broken socket, damaged cables, we will be happy. We will advise as necessary if there are any improvements needed. As a guide, if the property was first wired by a good electrician and not touched since it will probably be fine. Most of the faults we find on both new and old properties are due to extensions to circuits that have been done badly.
